She is dressed in white and adorned with a bright red cape, and is shown lifting up a cup in offering to the heavens. She wears a Crown of Isis atop her head and a moon shaped amulet around her neck. Towering over our priestess is the image of the white cloaked Santa Muerte carrying an owl and holding a candlestick. La Sacerdotisa stands between pillars of fire, black pillars to one side and white to the other. Just beyond La Sacerdotisa is the imagery of clouds, and she appears to be standing just in front of a veil or curtain being lifted - the veil or curtain is actually the flowing cape of the Santa Muerte towering above. ![]() Card: El Mago / The Magician Numerical Value: 1 Astronomical Symbol: Mercury Depiction: In the Tarot de la Santa Muerte, the card "El Mago" shows a young, authoritative magician, apparently in the middle of a magickal ritual. El Mago stands beside an altar table on which sit the image of a human skull and a cup of fire or some kind of bubbling brew. On the other side of El Mago is a small pillar, atop floats the elemental symbol for fire - an upright triangle. Watching over El Mago is the white cloaked Santa Muerte - la Nina Blanca - whose energy is protective and purifying. Behind her, on either side, float one white cloud and one black cloud, she appears to stand between El Mago and these clouds. ![]() Card: El Loco Numerical Value: 0 Symbol: Air Depiction: In the Tarot de la Santa Muerte, the card "El Loco" shows a young man setting off on a journey into the unknown. He points ahead as he struts across a bridge over water, and appears to be walking away from the mountains in the background. He carries a simple pack of belongings. From the clouds, the Santa Muerte in a blue cloak watches over El Loco, one of her hands holds a freshly turned hourglass and the other points back to where El Loco has come from. There is a skeleton dog on the bridge, which appears as if it is trying in vain to block El Loco from continuing. |
