Creative Inspiration Santa Muerte Magick

Primary Use

To inspire creative solutions. Perform this petition when you need inspiration for a an artistic project, class project, a new marketing campaign, et cetera. For people who find themselves under pressure to come up with the next big idea.

You Will Need

Herbs:

• Anise - generally used to increase psychic abilities, used here to open your mind to new and creative ideas.
• Basil - to dispel confusion, fear, and weakness. 
• Boneset - to promote new opportunities, to open the road ahead and clear roadblocks that might stand in your way. Used here to clear mental roadblocks. “Abrecaminos” in Spanish, which literally translates to “Open Roads”.
• Motherwort - to attract self confidence and boost ego, for combatting self defeating attitudes.

Other Items:

• 1 Blue Skull Candle - to serve as the magickal representation of yourself, as the person in need of creative inspiration. To appeal to the spirit of Santa Muerte in blue, who is commonly associated with creativity, intelligence, academics, and inspiration.
• Almond Carrier Oil - corresponding to matters of the brain and mind, used here to coat the candle and strengthen the connection between your magick intent and your creative mind.

• ​Mortar and Pestle - for grinding and incorporating your herbal ingredients into a powder. ​
• ​Burn Plate or Bowl - to hold your skull candle while it burns.

Preparations

At your Santa Muerte altar, use your mortar and pestle to blend and incorporate together an approximately equal amount of the four herbal ingredients listed above; the anise, basil, boneset, and motherwort. You do not need much, just enough to sprinkle over the surface of the blue skull candle.

As you blend and incorporate the herbal ingredients, pray the Creative Inspiration magick prayer, which is listed below, over the mixture, as you focus on your intent of attracting creative inspiration into your mind. You can also focus on the problem which is requiring a creative solution. Be careful of breathing in the dust of the herbs as you blend the mixture, as it may cause irritation. The mixture is complete when you are satisfied with the consistency of the blend.

The Skull Candle

Set aside your blend of herbal ingredients, then place the blue skull candle on your burn plate or in your burn bowl. Spread a thin layer of almond carrier oil over the outside of the blue skull candle. As you spread the almond oil, continue to recite the below included Creative Inspiration magick prayer, as you also focus on the intent of gaining the inspiration that you seek. When the candle is covered in a thin layer of oil, sprinkle your herbal mixture over and around the surface of the blue candle. Sprinkle the mixture pinch by pinch as you continue to recite the below Creative Inspiration magick prayer.

Let the Candle Burn

Place the skull candle at or near your Santa Muerte altar. Light the candle, then recite the below Creative Inspiration magick prayer at least three times in the light of the burning candle.

Relax Your Mind

As the candle burns, try to stop thinking about the problem you are trying to solve, or the solution you are looking for. Allow your mind to become passive and as relaxed as possible so that inspiration may come to you naturally. The solution to your problem will likely come when you least expect it. This being said, you should not feel prevented from asking for help or opinions from others - the Santa Muerte often uses those around us to deliver the answers to our prayers.

Let the candle burn to completion, but if the candle burns to completion and a solution has still not come to mind, then give yourself a few days before trying the petition again.

Remember; never leave a burning candle unattended. There is nothing wrong with extinguishing a candle when you need to leave the area, and relighting the candle when you return.
