Ad: For many followers of our Holy Saint Death, colors play an important role in working with Santa Muerte magick. This is why it is common to see Santa Muerte statues and other images featuring cloaks of different colors - even cloaks of multiple colors. In Santa Muerte magick, each cloak corresponds to a different type of energy, and working with the appropriate colored Santa Muerte is a good way to focus your intent toward your magickal objective. NOTE - the colors represent the different aspects of the same Santa Muerte, they are not different entities. In Santa Muerte magick, the following colors correspond to the following energies: White:
Believed by followers to be the most neutral energy to work with, the white Santa Muerte is called on to purify, cleanse, bring peace, and instill harmony. She is known to protect against accidents and misfortune. Excellent color for a home altar. Black: The most potent energy to work with, the black Santa Muerte is often called on to send curses, break curses, and protect against curses. She is known to protect against personal physical, psychic, and magickal attacks. When followers believe they are being attacked by black magick, it is to the black Santa Muerte that they pray for assistance. Red: The Santa Muerte of love, passion, sex, and attraction. Lovers may pray to the red Santa Muerte, or construct a red Santa Muerte amulet, for a long lasting and healthy relationship. Single people may pray to the red Santa Muerte for a spouse (or a lover) while people already married may pray for the fidelity of their partner. Pink: Having dominion over what one sees in the mirror, this aspect of the Santa Muerte may be petitioned for matters relating to beauty and love of self. Gold: If it's money and material success a follower wants, it's the gold Santa Muerte they turn to. Work with the gold Santa Muerte to attract money, business success, material wealth, and prosperity. Common to see the gold Santa Muerte in markets and places of business. Silver / Copper: For the kind of success hoped for by gamblers, card players, and buyers of lotto scratch tickets. This is the aspect of Saint Death who you pray to when you need a stroke of luck. Green: The green aspect of the Santa Muerte is typically associated with justice and the legal profession, but it is also associated with fertility. The green Santa Muerte is a patron saint of attorneys and judges, but she is also who followers call upon when they need help in legal matters that may take them to court, when they need help to avoid court / attention from law enforcement, or when they require justice but don't have the means to go to court or to pay for representation. Green is the color of land, which itself represents legal jurisdictions, "the law of the land", and personal property (which is at the middle of many lawsuits). As a fertility symbol, the green Santa Muerte can be petitioned when you need something to grow and flourish, and if you're trying to have a baby. Blue: Wisdom and creativity are the energies most associated with the blue Santa Muerte. She is frequently revered by students, educators, academics, and artists. Work with the blue Santa Muerte for comprehension, understanding, and inspiration. Purple: The color purple in Santa Muerte magick is associated with the psychic and spiritual realms. Work with the purple aspect of the Santa Muerte when you want to divine the future, for increasing psychic abilities, for prophetic dreams, and other forms of dream work, and for finding spiritual peace and harmony. Yellow: The realm of health and healing is the energy associated with yellow Santa Muerte. A symbol of both physical and mental health, she is the patron saint of both healers and the sick, medical staff and their patients. Transparent amber is often considered the color of addiction and rehabilitation. Brown: The color of dirt, which fittingly represents the grave, brown is the aspect of Santa Muerte dealing in matters of the realm of the dead, necromancy, and spirits. She is who you should appeal to and work with when attempting to communicate with or petition the dead. Remember to always go through the Santa Muerte before working with the dead, and to use divination to determine whether or not you have permission to proceed with your magickal work beyond the veil of the living. This is considered advanced work and should not be performed by novices. Multi-Color: If you do some searching online for images and depictions of the Santa Muerte in various colors, you will no doubt come across rainbow and multi-color Santa Muerte statues. The multi-colored cloak is just a way to receive the positive effects of each color without the need for several statues on a single altar. When you don't have the space or the funds for several different statues, or when you want to work with the Santa Muerte on different aspects of your life, a multi-colored statue offers a solution. I dreamt that my kids were playing in my closet which is were my altar is and they dropped the statute of the santa muerte along with the candles etc......when I went and saw they were still there playing and tried to cover what they did with a pillow .. I was super upset and began to pick up everything . Could u possible tell me what this dream might mean

In my layman's opinion it sounds like your subconscious is trying to tell you that your altar is too accessible to your children. Do you often worry that the kids will get into your altar? Have you caught them being curious before? Try moving your altar to be out of reach of children, or make it an altar you put away and store - that should put your subconscious at ease.

Yes this has happened with me before with my other deities it always happens when you’re asleep or half asleep or even in a meditation, to be more specific or precise depending if you’re in between Alfa and Theta brainwaves that this is possible, It’s because of the second link or bond you have billed or established with your deity that they communicate with you, dreams are easier for them to be visual, For example in my situation I had an acquaintance That needed a place to stay for a few days, however he had substance abuse problems and one morning he was smoking crystal in front of my Altar, So half asleep I woke up and told him that my spirits and guides did not like that if you could do it in the bathroom, Him in disbelief disregarded my warning, keep in mind he was doing so, anyhow again I got the warning I said if I ask a third time I get up and your there they gonna retaliate, so on the third time I said hold on to them I got up very silently and I saw him smoking in front of my altar I told him hey if u know I’m psychic and what I practice is legit why do you try me and them it’s not wise he apologized and went to the bathroom, I went to Altar and tended to is and went back to bed, Mind you I am not on top of my spirituality how I was before and should be! However that will not diminish the bond you have between you and The Altar you make, it’s you control center per say on both half’s of the sphere. So this is normal and a good sign always that communication is still there!

I wouldn't exactly consider myself a follower of La Santa Muerte, but I had a dream of her a while back, where a purple statue of her was placed on the hood my car, about a ten inch or 12 inch statue, almost like a gift. And the next day when I was awake my mother, who is a follower of hers, gifted me a purple statue after I was looking her altar, almost exactly like the one in my dreams. Then I had another dream where the statue had grown to about the size of a small child, and began growing flesh on its bones, and destructing any other kind of religious statue I put near it. Do you have any kind of Idea what this dream could mean? @Brendan - As always, dreams are very personal and subjective. I would first like to know some of the emotions you felt after receiving this dream. Were there feelings of peace or joy? Or feelings of terror or dread? Our dreams communicate with us in the language we understand, so dream symbolism can have different meanings for different people. This being said, if I had the dream you described, I would associate the growing of the statue with a growing of the presence of Santa Muerte in my life. What was once a small presence (a practice of your mom) will soon grow to become a large presence (a practice of your own). The growing of flesh is something I would associate with this presence coming to life, as if your spirituality will grow and mature like a child. The imagery of destroying other religious statues could simply mean that Santa Muerte will dominate your spiritual path. Again, this is just my opinion, based on my own associations with the symbols you described. I would again encourage you to consider and meditate on what the symbols mean in your own life.

How important is the color magick/aspect concept to veneration of Santa Muerte? I have a bronze colored statue on my altar that has no particular color, but use colored candles and offerings for different things. However, some devotees I've spoken to state that the cloak colors are important and Santa Muerte has different personalities or feels based on what color you're invoking.
Reply
The colors are for you, not the Santa Muerte. They give your subconscious mind, the place where magick starts, something to visualize and grasp. - I guess your subconscious mind doesn't need the help of the cloaks, as you seem to have found a successful formula for magick on your own. If the relationship you have with Santa Muerte works, then there's no reason to fix what's not broken. Also, does the Santa Muerte turn away the blind, who have no perception of color? Or does she turn away the poor who can't afford tools of various colors? The stuff only matters if you let it matter. You are connected to Santa Muerte by virtue of your mortality, by the fact that you are walking toward her embrace every single day, not because you bought a statue and lit some candles.

The colors are merely to reflect vibration and make way for the spectrum to work with that epithets of that deity. The colors is Of course your consciousness but remember conscious and subconscious are still just one of consciousness, like two sides of a coin similar to the spirit and soul.

Just starting out with her...it's been a year more n I've been lighting White candles only so I ask for regular protection but how can I ask for something more I am getting kicked out my home what candles should I light n am I worthy?

If you are alive, then you are worthy of Santa Muerte's blessings. If the root of your obstacles is financial, then the gold Santa Muerte is most often associated with money and finances. It is interesting you mentioned you have been lighting white candles to Santa Muerte, as white is associated with protection, but also peace and calm. If you are being kicked out, it would appear as though your home life has not been very peaceful or calm, and this may be a blessing in disguise - an opportunity for you to find a more peaceful and calm place to call your home.

Thank you for your comment! Yes, you can drape a cloak over your current statue. You could also offer a red candle, or place a red altar cloth beneath the statue. Ultimately, all versions of Santa Muerte may be petitioned equally, because they are all the same Santa Muerte. The colors are more for us, to help us focus our minds toward the intent which we wish to communicate.

What does it mean if someone hands you an all white Santa muerte statue...
Reply
It is difficult to know anyone's intent unless they tell you directly. However, in the tradition of Santa Muerte magick, the color white is associated with peace, calm, and tranquility, so it could represent a desire for you to experience peace and tranquility in your life. It could also be as simple as wanting to give you something as a memento to remember them by, or perhaps they just saw the statue and thought you would find it interesting.

I make offerings of small colored candies (lifesavers are a favorite) to correspond with petitions, or whichever seems she might like best.

I am not a devotee of la Santa Muerte but I dreamed of her multicolored statue. It was big and my sister (also not a devotee) place a rainbow cape around her and offered her trinkets. She was inside the store of a man. Can anyone tell me what this dream meant?

This is a very vague description. Questions I have:

When I woke up I was kind of surprised . Not so much scared though. I’ve had a dream of Santa Muerte before but she was in black and that time I was scared. This time not so much. Then I think my first assessment stands. A change is coming to your sister's life, one that will be accepted. You will be an observer to this change, but it will bring you two closer together (because you walked into the store). A liquor store or bodega may represent desires needing to be fulfilled, very likely in matters of business or finance. I would say that your sister will be facing an important business decision, or may perhaps be thinking about starting her own business. The man may represent a mature / experienced energy associated with the business decision, perhaps an advisor or mentor who will facilitate the decision. Since you were not afraid of the dream, or made to feel fear, then I do not think this dream is foretelling anything bad.

I started working with the black. I see so much change in my life now! I feel so peaceful around her! I’ve never felt so much peace with my kids and her. We all sit around her and talk about everyday life. Things have changed for the better!

I recently left my husband of 14 years I have been with him since I was 17 I wanted to teach him a lesson I planned on going back.. I brought my statues with me they r White I have been praying for a sign am I doing the right thing? should I go back? I can't light a candle because I'm in my parents house...I love him with my whole heart n soul but I'm afraid of going back and I am afraid of living without him I have been having dreams that make no sense to me what does it all mean? He prays to her too.

One of the foundations of magick, including Santa Muerte magick, is intent. Intent requires clarity, but you do not seem clear on exactly what it is that you want. In the same message, you said you left him, but planned on going back. Then you said you were simultaneously afraid of going back to him, but also afraid of living without him. I really don't know what I can say to help you, because you're pulling yourself in two different directions. If you cannot get clear on what it is that you want, then you cannot expect Santa Muerte to know what kind of help to consider delivering.

Dreams are always subjective, and there are many ways to interpret a dream. One question I always have is what were your thoughts immediately following the dream. Were you scared? Calm? Happy? Sad?

i had a dream about La Santa Muerte last night and she was just standing there and she was wearing a red cloak when i saw her i was confused but i wasn't scared i felt like i had a connection with her and i don't pray to her i was wondering if you could tell me what this means.

This kind of dream could be interpreted to mean that you are approaching a new chapter in your love life. The Santa Muerte, as death itself, generally represents new beginnings. The color red, in Santa Muerte magick, represents love and relationships. :The fact that you did not feel scared makes me think that whatever change is coming your way will not be bad, or at least not a surprise, but something that will bring you comfort.

Hello. What does the bone aspect of Santa Muerte represent? I've been trying to find something, but a lot of posts say it's not bone, it's just white Thank you.
Reply
Yes, many people will associate bone with the color white. I have also heard of those who associate bone with the realm of the dead, necromancy, and spirits (which on this page, is associated with the color brown). The associations on this page are only a guide for common associations, they are not dogma. Ultimately the color is not as important as intent and personal association. For example, many Americans associate the color green with money, which is fine, because American money is green. But this association would not make sense for many Mexicans, because money in Mexico is not just green, but green, and pink, and blue, and orange. So I ask you, what does the color of bone represent for you?

I had a dream last night in which I saw a white Santa Muerte and I’m not sure if she was spooking me or helping me and my little sister from a creature with a human body and deer antlers.

It does not sound like Santa Muerte is something that scares you - you admitted being drawn to the statue to the point of touching it, which is not something I think you would have done if you were actually scared of the image of Santa Muerte. So, if Santa Muerte is not something that scares you, then I do not think her presence in a dream would be intended to scare you either.

I just started with la santa muerte in Jan of this year 2022 when I bought the black robed she appeared in my dream but the way she came to me really frightened me why would that be . After that dream the following days I dreamt of her in the red robe and I felt much more calm and actually followed her as if I knew her and I wasn't scared . Why did I get scared of the black robe but not the red??
Reply
It is possible that you were frightened by the new experience. No matter how good is our relationship with Death, actually having to face Death can be a little unsettling, or downright startling. Just because you were frightened, I do not think it was the intent of Santa Muerte to cause you fear. By returning to your dreams in a cloak of red, this could have been an effort by your subconscious mind, or an effort of Santa Muerte herself, to show you that her presence should be interpreted in love.

Hello, I recently started my journey with Santa Muerte. I'm mostly learning from TikTok and research, my sons father who is incarcerated got me interested in her. I'm trying to find a good prayer and ritual to do to help him get out any help would be great. I know I use green candles pray to the green Santa Muerte. Could his hair be useful. I also have a key I want to add to my alter and a bell.
Reply
You can create an herbal blend of agrimony (a breaking herb) and boneset (a road opening herb). You can add the hair to this blend as well. Place a green candle over a picture of the father, then sprinkle the herbs around the base of the candle. I would also incorporate a lock and key. Use a Sharpie, or paint pen, to write his name on the lock (in green ink if available). Write "Santa Muerte" on the key (again in green ink if available). Place the key in the lock, and leave the lock open (unlocked). Place the lock and key near the burning candle, so they can absorb the light of the candle's flame. Let the candle burn to completion. The herbs you sprinkled around the base of the candle can be sprinkled over the Earth. Keep the lock and key (unlocked) on your altar, on top of the father's photo. You can repeat this once a month.

If you are looking for justice and retribution, then I would consider focusing your attention on the green cloaked aspect of Santa Muerte. If you just want to send negative energy to those you think deserve it, then you can focus your energy on the black aspect of Santa Muerte.
