Introduction
This short book is a collection of petitions designed to attract love, lust, and sex with the help of the Santa Muerte, a Mexican folk saint whose name in English translates to Holy Death, and who is recognized by many as the personification of death itself.
Some of the most popular content on my website, SantaMuerteMagick.com, and the type of magick that I get asked about the most, relates to love and sex, which is why I have decided to write this book. Within the pages of this book you will find a variety of Santa Muerte petitions intended to help you attract all types of love, from long lasting relationships to one off sexual encounters, and from the “traditional” to the kinky and taboo.
One of the reasons why I think so many people are attracted to asking the Santa Muerte for help in matters of love and sex is because Santa Muerte is a force which does not judge. We are all equal under Holy Death, because we will all one day die, and while not every petition may be granted, those who ask for help are never made to feel ashamed for the things they ask. This is why the same Santa Muerte who is petitioned to keep a lover faithful, may also be petitioned to facilitate a tryst with someone who is married.
I want to remind my readers that the petitions I share are my own, and therefore based on my own resources and what I have access to. Not everybody will have access, for one reason or another, to candles, herbs, and other tools. The good news is that the tradition of Santa Muerte is non-dogmatic, and highly customizable. Every relationship with Santa Muerte is unique, and you are encouraged to adapt the petitions contained within these pages to your own circumstances, especially if you are unable to perform them exactly as they are written. If you are in a position where you cannot perform or adapt any of these petitions with physical tools, please check out my first book, “Santa Muerte Prayer Magick”, for a method of petitioning the Santa Muerte through prayer alone. All of the prayers contained in this book may be adapted to the method shared in “Santa Muerte Prayer Magick”, which is available on Amazon.com.
Another point I want to make is that everything in this book may be used by anyone who is in need of love magick, whether or not they identify as a devotee of Santa Muerte. A foundational principle of Santa Muerte magick is that Santa Muerte accepts us all, which is evidenced by the fact that Santa Muerte, as death itself, will one day come for us all. Since Santa Muerte accepts us all, it does not matter if you identify wholly as a devotee of Santa Muerte, as a member of another faith, or as completely faithless. There are no prerequisites to perform the petitions outlined in this book, and there is no requirement to become or even to remain a devotee after a petition has been granted. The Santa Muerte is a part of your life whether you accept it or not - all of the prerequisites and requirements necessary to petition the Santa Muerte have already been fulfilled by virtue of your own birth. The day you were born was the day you started dying, and it was on that day that you became a child of Santa Muerte.
In the tradition of Santa Muerte, the color red is commonly associated with matters of love, lust, and sex, but you will notice that some of the petitions contained herein appeal to different colored aspects of the Santa Muerte. This is because sometimes, in order to attract a certain kind of love into our lives, we must first succeed in different areas. For example, we may wish for another relationship to fail, in order to make way for a new relationship to start - and so we may incorporate the color black into a petition, which is associated with the aspect of Santa Muerte known to grant curses and hexes. Ultimately, however, there is only one Santa Muerte. To petition one aspect of Santa Muerte, is to petition the one and only. When we use colors to appeal to the various aspects of Santa Muerte, we use them as one of many tools to help convey our specific intent. Color is one way that we convey our intent, but it is not the only way. Intent is also conveyed through the incorporation of prayer, visualization, herbs, oils, and more.
In regard to the herbal and oil correspondences that are shared here, they are derived from various sources, including tradition / legend, the physical appearance plants, and research relating to medicinal uses of plants. Many herbs and oils have more than one use, so you may see the same herb or oil prescribed for different purposes across my writings. For example, I recommend working with almond oil to influence another person’s mind, because the almond itself looks crudely similar to a tiny human brain, but you will also find writings where I recommend almond oil for matters of money and business, because many cultures have viewed the almond as a symbol of prosperity and abundance. Since I’m on the topic of almond oil, anyone with an allergy to nuts can substitute almond oil for olive oil. Olive oil has almost universal applications in magick because it is associated with so many things, such as wisdom (a matter of the mind), abundance (a matter of money), and good relations (a matter of the heart).
As a note of safety, please remember to never leave a burning candle unattended. There is nothing wrong with extinguishing a candle when you have to walk away from it, and re-lighting it when you return.
When a petition is complete, unless you are keeping specific items for use as a magick charm, then you may dispose all items which you no longer require as responsibly as possible - spent candles can be thrown away, pieces of paper may be shredded and recycled, herbs may be thrown over the Earth, et cetera. If you construct a magick charm but come to a point when you no longer require its energy in your life, then you may simply disassemble the charm, and again dispose of the individual pieces as responsibly as possible.
Finally, if you are a victim of domestic violence or intimate partner abuse, please know that you are not the problem, you are not alone, and you deserve better. There is hope, and there is a way out. Santa Muerte magick is a tool, not a cure. I recommend magick to increase your odds of success in achieving your goals, but living with someone who is violent and abusive is simply too dangerous of a position to be in to wait for the results of magick to manifest. Please do not lean on Santa Muerte to change your partner’s violent or abusive habits. If you are experiencing domestic violence or intimate partner abuse, please consider visiting TheHotline.org, for online chat support, or calling 1-800-799-7233 for phone support (TTY phone support at 1-800-787-3224). If you think your internet / phone activity is being monitored, then consider using another person’s computer or phone, using cash to buy a burner phone, or accessing a public computer or phone at a public library. It is free to talk, you do not need to identify yourself, and you can ask any questions that you want. If you have been looking for a sign to get out of a dangerous situation, then consider this your sign. For the love of Santa Muerte, please get help now.
