Practice Reading #1
Below is a pattern of coins as it might appear in a real reading. See Figure 16.
Figure 16 - A sample coin reading with all 14 coins cast.
Next, all face-down coins are disregarded, and removed from the reading surface. See Figure 17.
Figure 17 - This is the same reading from Figure 16, but all face-down coins have been removed from the reading surface.
For simplicity, the reading surface can now be rotated so that The Pointer coin appears to point east, or to the three o’clock position - see Figure 18. Whether or not you physically rotate the reading is your decision, but you will always read the coins in the direction of The Pointer.
Figure 18 - The same reading from Figure 16 and Figure 17, after the face-down coins have been removed,
and the reading surface rotated so The Pointer points from left to right.
and the reading surface rotated so The Pointer points from left to right.
The coins, as they appear in Figure 18, are now ready to be interpreted.
Since we are reading from left to right, in the direction of The Pointer coin, we interpret The Rose coin first, because it is the coin that is farthest to the left of the pattern. Although the The Rose coin is technically touching The Pointer coin, remember that The Pointer has no significance and exists as a directional aid only. For this reason, The Rose is interpreted as a single coin.
The Rose represents love, or a relationship of some kind. The next coin to be interpreted is The Flame, which represents knowledge, revelation, or illumination. The next coin to be interpreted is The Crossroads, which represents a decision to be made.
As you may see, the coins are already starting to reveal a message. The first three coins of this practice reading, The Rose, The Flame, and The Crossroads, can be interpreted to mean that someone you love, or someone you’re in a relationship with, will reveal some truth, or will have something revealed about them, which will bring you to a crossroads where a decision about the future will need to be made.
The final two coins in the reading are The Grave and The Skull. At first glance, The Grave appears to be on-line with The Skull, but this is not the case, and placing a perpendicular straight edge (perpendicular to the arrow on The Pointer coin, as was explained back in Figure 4) would reveal that, in fact, The Grave is slightly to the left of The Skull, which means that The Grave should be interpreted next, and The Skull interpreted last.
The Grave signals a coming together, or a gathering of friends and family, following the decision that was made at the crossroads. The final coin, The Skull, represents the self, and places emphasis on the coin(s) that land(s) closest to it, as a signal of what forces are weighing the heaviest on you at this very point in time. Since it is The Grave that landed closest to The Skull, this signals that the gathering, or the coming together, is likely to have the most influence on whatever decision is made at the crossroads.
Overall, this reading appears to point to the start of a new chapter in a relationship - very likely related to “taking the next step,” as they say. There may be a declaration of love in your future, or a request to move in together, which would result in a decision to be made, and a coming together of two people, two sets of friends, and two families.
