Practice Reading #6
Below is a pattern of coins as it might appear in a real reading. See Figure 31.
Figure 31 - A sample coin reading with all 14 coins cast.
Next, all face-down coins are disregarded, and removed from the reading surface. See Figure 32.
Figure 32 - This is the same reading from Figure 31, but all face-down coins have been removed from the reading surface.
For simplicity, the reading surface can now be rotated so that The Pointer coin appears to point east, or to the three o’clock position - see Figure 33. Whether or not you physically rotate the reading is your decision, but you will always read the coins in the direction of The Pointer.
Figure 33 - The same reading from Figure 31 and Figure 32, after the face-down coins have been removed,
and the reading surface rotated so The Pointer points from left to right.
and the reading surface rotated so The Pointer points from left to right.
The coins, as they appear in Figure 33, are now ready to be interpreted.
Since we are reading from left to right, in the direction of The Pointer coin, we interpret The Rose coin first, because it is the coin that is farthest to the left in the pattern. The Rose represents love, or a relationship of some kind. The next coin to be interpreted is The Scales of Justice, which represents balance, fairness, and retribution. The Rose, followed by The Scales of Justice, could be interpreted to mean that a relationship is heading for a balancing - perhaps your relationship is plagued by an imbalance of power that is about to be addressed.
The next coin to be interpreted is The Eye, which represents intuition and internal knowing. The Eye, as you will see in Figure 33, landed covered by another coin, The Bridge, which represents a spiritual or physical journey. When one coin lands on another, the coin on top is considered to have the most influence on, or to weigh down on, the coin on the bottom. The fact that The Bridge landed on The Eye indicates that a spiritual or physical journey will weigh heaviest on a matter of intuition - in other words, that a journey will lead you to an intuitive discovery. You may go somewhere and see something that sets off alarm bells, or you may replay past events in your mind (a trip down memory lane) and get a strong feeling about where the relationship is going.
The Apple coin appears next in the pattern, which represents the bearing of fruit, or plans coming to fruition. Considering the previously interpreted coins, The Apple may indicate that the intuitive discovery previously mentioned will result in a tangible outcome, meaning that the intuition in question will be acted on, or will prove correct.
Following The Apple is The Skull coin, which represents the self, and places emphasis on the coin(s) that land(s) closest to The Skull in the pattern. Here, the coin closest to The Skull is The Bridge, which indicates you are currently planning for your journey, or you are on your journey already. While The Skull is technically touching The Pointer coin, remember that The Pointer has no significance other than to orient the reading, which is why The Skull was treated as a solo coin.
The next coins interpreted are The Tear and The Flame - and notice that these two coins are touching, which means we interpret the coins together. Since The Tear appears first when interpreting the coins in the direction of The Pointer, it is considered to have the most influence on The Flame. In this case, since The Tear represents sadness and depression, and since The Flame represents revelation or illumination, it is a good indication that you will be in a state of sadness or depression when a revelation of facts come to light, or perhaps that your sadness and depression encourages another person to tell you something you did not know before, perhaps in an attempt to cheer you up, or an attempt to come clean.
The final coin is The Crown, representing material success, riches, and treasure. Here, considering the interpretations already shared, this coin may point not to a financial success or material wealth, but actually gaining a metaphorical treasure, such as peace of mind, or the opportunity to move on from something bad, like a poor relationship.
Overall, this reading appears to point to a relationship that is heading for a balancing of power. You will soon take a spiritual or physical journey that will spark your intuition regarding a relationship, and there is a good chance that you are planning for that journey or are already on it. Your intuition will prove fruitful, meaning you will act on your intuition, or perhaps that your intuition will be confirmed, leading to sadness and depression. Your sadness and depression will likely lead to a revelation, or perhaps the other person in your relationship coming clean and confessing a truth that was previously hidden and kept secret. Fortunately, you will arrive at a treasure, meaning this relationship may have been going sour for a while, and the revelation may be just the motivation you need in order to pursue a better, happier relationship.
