Practice Reading #8
Below is a pattern of coins as it might appear in a real reading. See Figure 37.
Figure 37 - A sample coin reading with all 14 coins cast.
Next, all face-down coins are disregarded, and removed from the reading surface. See Figure 38.
Figure 38 - This is the same reading from Figure 37, but all face-down coins have been removed from the reading surface.
For simplicity, the reading surface can now be rotated so that The Pointer coin appears to point east, or to the three o’clock position - see Figure 39. Whether or not you physically rotate the reading is your decision, but you will always read the coins in the direction of The Pointer.
Figure 39 - The same reading from Figure 37 and 38, after the face-down coins have been removed,
and the reading surface rotated so The Pointer points from left to right.
and the reading surface rotated so The Pointer points from left to right.
The coins, as they appear in Figure 39, are now ready to be interpreted.
Since we are reading from left to right, in the direction of The Pointer coin, we interpret The Scythe coin first, because it is the coin that is farthest to the left of the pattern. The Scythe represents death, or a new beginning. The next coin in the pattern is The Grave, which represents a gathering, coming together, friends and family, or some kind of organization. Together, these two coins indicate a new beginning that brings people together, or perhaps the joining or leaving of an organization.
The next coin to be interpreted is The Tear, which represents sadness and depression. This coin has also landed on top of The Eye coin, which represents intuition and internal knowing. When one coins lands on another, the coin on top is considered to have the most influence on, or to weigh down on, the bottom coin. The fact that The Tear landed on The Eye indicates that sadness will weigh heaviest on a matter of intuition - in other words, that a sad or depressing event may lead you to an intuitive discovery.
Notice that The Eye has also landed on top of The Skull, which represents the self, and places emphasis on the coin(s) that land(s) closest to The Skull. The fact that The Eye is closest to The Skull shows that you may currently or soon become preoccupied with your intuition, or your own intuition will soon consume you and your decisions.
This set of three coins, The Tear, The Eye, and The Skull, when taken together with the first two coins, The Scythe and The Grave, could signal a departure from an organization, or a departure from a close knit group of friends or family, which you fear cannot be avoided, and which is causing you some emotional distress or sadness.
The next coin in the pattern is The Moon coin, which represents ebb and flow, or the turning of a tide. Whatever situation you are in now is likely to be turned on its head. This coin is followed by The Bridge, which represents a spiritual or physical journey. The final coin in the reading, The Crossroads represents an important decision that will need to be made. Together, these coins indicate that you are about to experience a reversal of fortune that will lead you on an emotional journey of growth, or perhaps a physical journey as a result of the reversal of fortune, ultimately resulting in the need to make a choice that will lead you down a new life path.
Overall, this reading seems to indicate you already know that a departure from an organization, or close knit group of people, is approaching, and that this departure will bring about sadness and depression. Whether or not this departure will prove to be what’s best will depend on your current state, since the ebb and flow indicated by The Moon in the reading represents a complete 180 in regard to present circumstances - if times have been carefree and going well, then they will likely turn sour, but if times have been full of struggle and worry, then they will likely improve. Either way, you can expect an emotional, and possibly physical, journey, which will require you to make an important decision - likely related to letting go of the past you knew or embracing the new future which you seem to be approaching.
