Wisdom and Talent of the Dead Petition
Primary Use
To gain the wisdom and talent of the dead. Specifically, expert wisdom and talent which the dead mastered when they were alive.
You Will Need
Preparations
At your Santa Muerte altar, use your thin etching tool to scratch into the wax of the offering candle a brief description of the wisdom or talent you are pursuing. For example; “musical talent," “political wisdom," “artistic talent," “financial wisdom," et cetera. Place the candle to the side.
Next, light the picture of your deceased target on fire, and allow the picture to burn to ashes in your cauldron or burn pot. When the picture has been reduced to ashes, sprinkle those ashes over the top of the unlit offering candle, so they rest around the top of the candle, surrounding the wick.
Candle Burning
Place the picture of yourself on a flat surface at or near your Santa Muerte altar. Then place the brown offering candle on top of your picture, and light the candle.
As the brown offering candle burns over your picture, recite the below Wisdom and Talent of the Dead magick prayer. As you recite the prayer, attempt to visualize yourself gaining the wisdom or knowledge that you are pursuing. If you are pursuing the talent to play the guitar, envision yourself strumming a guitar. If you are pursuing political wisdom, envision yourself performing political duties. Recite the prayer for as long as feels comfortable.
In this case, the words you etched into the candle, and the ashes you placed around the top of the candle, represent the wisdom or talent that you are pursuing, and the wax represents the barriers or challenges in your way of receiving that wisdom or talent. This is why you want a candle in glass, because the wax in a glass candle will evaporate and disappear as the candle burns, rather than just melt into a puddle. Since the wax represents your challenges, you want the wax to disappear, not just spread around. As the candle burns, and the wax melts, the ashes at the top of the candle will move closer and closer to your picture beneath the candle, literally bringing you closer, day by day, to the wisdom or knowledge that you seek.
Note
Remember to do your part as well. Put in the time to practice the skill you want to master, and make moves that will get you closer to gaining the wisdom you want to obtain. No amount of magick will help you master the guitar if you never pick up a guitar. This petition is not a quick fix, it is a tool to overcome the challenges and frustration that often accompany mastering a skill or gaining wisdom.
Wisdom and Talent of the Dead Magick Prayer
Santa Muerte, bring to me,
Wisdom, talent, that I seek.
From this spirit in the know,
Lift the veil and let now flow,
Expertise of mastered craft,
Expertise that they amassed.
From that soul to this one here,
What they knew, to me make clear.
To gain the wisdom and talent of the dead. Specifically, expert wisdom and talent which the dead mastered when they were alive.
You Will Need
- 1 Brown Offering Candle (in glass) - to appeal to the energy of the Brown Cloaked Santa Muerte who exercises power beyond the grave, over the spirits of the departed, and who facilitates magick between the Land of the Living and the Land of the Dead. For this petition, use a brown offering candle that is encased in glass - the reason for this is explained below.
- Thin Etching Tool - like a pick or pin, to etch into the wax of your candle.
- Picture of the Deceased - this is the deceased person whose spirit would possess the talent or wisdom that you seek. Since death likely does not make a spirit smarter, you should select a deceased person who you are sure, when they were alive, had the specific wisdom or talent that you are pursuing. For example, the spirit of John Lennon can be selected to attract musical talent. If you do not have a picture of your desired target, then write on a piece of paper the full real name, date of birth, and date of death of the spirit you are targeting. If the person was known by a stage name or pseudonym, then write this name in quotes on the paper as well. For example, if you seek wisdom and talent in storytelling or novel writing, you could target famous author George Orwell, whose real name was Eric Arthur Blair. In this case, you would write on your paper: Eric Arthur Blair, June 25 1903 to January 21 1950, “George Orwell."
- Cauldron or Burn Pot - to hold the picture of your deceased target as it burns.
- Picture of Yourself - to represent yourself in this petition, as the person to whom you want the wisdom and talent to flow.
