Ad: Primary Use: To cause the breakup of a romantically involved couple. ***This was written at the request of a reader. Looking for a Santa Muerte magick spell for a specific purpose but don't see it here? Get in touch to make a suggestion! You Will Need: Herb:
Other Ingredients:
Preparations At your Santa Muerte altar, light your black candle, so that you may work in its light. Write the names of the couple that you want to cause to break up on the piece of paper. If able, add an additional one or two facts about the couple to the piece of paper - like their address, anniversary date, or even email addresses. You can also introduce a photo, and write directly onto it. The more information you can add to the paper, the stronger you will make the magickal link between the paper and your target couple. Crafting the Curse: Next, place flat on your altar the piece of paper with your target couples' names, and place your two poppets on top of the paper, so all three may rest in the black candle's flame. Spit three times over the dolls and paper, reciting the below Break Up Curse Santa Muerte magick prayer after each spit (this is the introduction of your negativity activator, to further illustrate the negative intent behind this curse). Take your lemon verbena herb and sprinkle a portion of the herb around the dolls and paper, encircling them in the negative energy of the herb. As you sprinkle the herb, recite the Break Up Curse Santa Muerte magick prayer (found below). Leave the poppets and paper, which have now been spat upon three times and sprinkled with lemon verbena herb, on your altar to rest in the black candle's flame for about 30 minutes, to give the negative energy a chance to build. After 30 minutes, retrieve the two poppets and the piece of paper. Fold a small amount of lemon verbena herb into the paper and fold the paper into a small rectangle. Holding the poppets back to back, wedge the paper between both poppets. Wrap both poppets (with the piece of paper between them) from top to bottom in black ribbon. Ensure you cover the faces of both poppets. Continue to recite the below Break Up Curse Santa Muerte magick prayer (found below) as you wrap your poppets. Leave the bundled poppets on or near your altar until the black candle has burned to completion. Separating the Poppets When the candle has burned to completion, unwrap the two poppets and separate them geographically, to further symbolize the separation you want to inflict. In other words, pick a distant trash can in your town to dispose of one poppet, and then go to a distant trash can in a neighboring town to dispose of the other. Feel free to focus on your intent of breaking up this couple, and to recite the below Break Up Curse magick prayer, as you run this magickal errand. Placing a geographic barrier between the poppets, like a county line, or a river, will further illustrate and make clear your magickal intent. Disposing of Your Curse Materials You may dispose of whatever else remains from this curse petition using the instructions outlined in my post How to Dispose of Magick Trash. Break Up Curse Santa Muerte Magick PrayerSanta Muerte, kill this love,
curse it now, from up above. Anger and fights I invite, keep this couple up at night. Piss and sulfur fill the air, whenever these two get near. Santa Muerte make it be, for your help I do beseech. In your name, amen. Ad:

Check out my book "Santa Muerte Prayer Magick," available on Amazon.com, for instructions on how to petition the Santa Muerte through the power of prayer alone. It is a very short and very straightforward book. If you do not know the personal information of a person who you want to send this curse to, you can substitute their personal information for a general statement, such as "The one who keeps my love away" or even "The bitch who stole my man."

Can I separate the poppets the next day? I plan to do this at night but I don’t want to go out late at night and find two places to dump the poppets. Thank you!

May I sub lemon verbena with mint lemon balm?
Reply
The association for me comes from the "lemonness" of the verbena - to represent turning something sour. Any plant that offers this kind of bitter energy could work as a substitute. From what I have seen online, mint lemon balm does have a lemon-like aroma and flavor, so my answer to your question would be yes.

Hello, I wonder if you tried the spell with the lemon balm? I was going to post the same question, I just bought a pack of different herbs and got lemon grass and lemon balm but not lemon verbena so I'd like to hear from others what the outcome was after replacing an important ingredient.

I do not know what the results were for the original poster, but I do not think there would be a problem, because it is the lemony aspect of the herb that we are incorporating in order to turn the relationship sour. Essentially any herb associated with being sour, or being bitter, or being associated with the lemon, would work as a substitution for lemon verbena. As always, I just recommend you do not be lazy, because lazy effort will only attract lazy results. If you cannot get a hold of lemon verbena for one reason or another, then there is nothing wrong with working within your means, considering potential substitutions thoughtfully, and experimenting with the tools you have available.

The association for me comes from the "lemonness" of the verbena - to represent turning something sour. Any substitution that offers this kind of bitter energy could work as a substitute. Lemon zest maintains this association with bitterness or turning something sour, so my answer to your question is that yes, lemon zest would work as a substitute.
