Haunted Home Cleansing Santa Muerte Magick

Primary Use - 

To clear a haunted home of lingering ghosts.

You Will Need:

• 1 Sage Smudge Stick - to remove and repel negative energy; to cleanse physical areas. If in a communal living situation, like an apartment or condo, you can use sage incense, as this should create less smoke.
• 1 Black Bowl - To hold beneath the smudge stick as you move throughout the home. Can also be used to hold the smudge stick when it gets too hot to hold in the hand, and to extinguish the smudge stick when the working is done.
• 1 Handful of Sand / Dirt - To place in your black bowl. To distribute the heat from the smudge stick if you rest it in the bowl, to catch any ashes, and to extinguish the smudge stick when the working is done.
• 1 Black Santa Muerte Rosary - to represent the Santa Muerte as you move throughout the home. You may also use the image of the Santa Muerte on any black cord, if you do not have a rosary.

Preparations

Every good spiritual cleansing begins with a physical cleaning. At the very least, the home should be cleared of clutter, dusted, and where appropriate, swept, mopped, or vacuumed. Also, the person performing the cleansing, and anyone present for the cleansing, should take a shower before this work is started. Next, open all the windows in the home, to allow for ventilation, and open all the bedroom, bathroom, and closet doors, so you don't have to fumble with them as you're moving about. You should also disconnect all the smoke detectors, as the smoke from the smudge will likely set them off.

Place the handful of dirt in the black bowl.

The Cleansing

Wearing or holding the black Santa Muerte rosary, stand with your back to the front door, looking into the home. Safely light the smudge stick, ensuring it remains smoking, but not aflame (like a stick of incense), and recite the below included Haunted Home Cleansing Santa Muerte magick prayer.

Main Floor

After reciting the prayer, begin to walk slowly around the inner perimeter of the home, moving from the location of the front door in a clockwise direction. As you walk around the inner perimeter, continue to recite the below magick prayer, as you gently wave the smudge stick so its smoke reaches the corner of every room, including every nook and closet, until you are back at the front door.

Lower Level / Basement

If the home has a basement, or any accessible living areas beneath the main floor, then go to the threshold of the basement / lower level and again recite the Haunted Home Cleansing magick prayer. Next, walk slowly down the stairs while reciting the magick prayer, and once at the base of the stairs, again walk along the inner perimeter of the lower level in a clockwise direction, ensuring the smoke from your smudge stick reaches all nooks and closets, reciting the prayer along the way.

Repeat this process for any additional lower levels which may exist. Essentially, you're moving from the main floor, to the bottom of the property, to the top of the property.

Upper Level / Attic

When you have walked clockwise along the entire inner perimeter of all lower levels, then slowly walk back up all the stairs to the main floor.

If there are more floors above the main floor, then walk to the base of the first flight of stairs, recite the magick prayer, and slowly ascend the stairs to the next floor. Walk clockwise along the perimeter of the next floor, continuing to recite the magick prayer and spreading the smoke from the smudge stick, until you are back where you started near the top of the stairs. Repeat this process for each additional upper floor.

If there is an attic where you can safely stand and walk, then continue these steps up into the attic. If the attic is nothing more than a crawl space, then you can rest in the entrance to the crawlspace and simply hold the smudge stick above your head and recite the magick prayer three times (enough time for the smoke from the smudge to reach all the corners of the attic crawlspace).

When all upper floors have been thoroughly smudged, then walk back down the stairs to the main floor, back to the front door where you first started. Again face inward, with your back to the front door, and recite the Haunted Home Santa Muerte Magick prayer one last time.

Extinguish the smudge stick in the black bowl, and the cleansing is done. You may dispose of what remains from this cleansing using the instructions outlined in my post How to Dispose of Magick Trash.

NOTE - PLEASE READ 

​Whenever you're standing at the top of a flight of stairs, ensure you stand far enough away from the edge, or off to the side, so no malevolent forces can push you down.

When you are walking up or down a flight of stairs, rest the smudge stick in the bowl so you may free one hand to hold the handrail, for the same reason.
