A simple 9-day novena prayer ritual to thank Santa Muerte for a healing granted.
A novena prayer is generally accepted to be a prayer or set of prayers recited in sets of nine. The prayer could be recited nine times in a row, over nine days, across nine weeks, or even across nine months. For devotees of Santa Muerte, a novena prayer ritual can serve as an act of thanks, or a return promise, for a miracle granted.
The novena prayer ritual that follows is intended to be recited over nine days, following the delivery of a healing miracle. Whether you asked Santa Muerte to heal you, or someone you care for, you may recite the following set of novena prayers as a show of thanks and appreciation.
There is no physical item you need to perform this nine day novena prayer for a healing granted, but you are free to recite the prayer at your Santa Muerte altar, and / or light a candle to Santa Muerte to accompany each day of prayer. For an added act of devotion, you can recite each prayer nine times on the appropriate day, or you may recite the Santa Muerte Rosary after each daily prayer.
As always, you are free to perform this prayer ritual however you want, and to incorporate it into any other promissory or devotional acts that you would like.
Santa Muerte, Holy Death,
she who hears all prayed requests.
Thank you for lending your ear,
And keeping my words so dear.
When I was in time of need,
patiently you heard me speak.
Never silenced, never rushed,
you listened in perfect trust.
Time of illness, come and gone,
now to face a brand new dawn.
Though I know not what's ahead,
thank you for what you have blessed.
Holy Death who loves us all,
On my knees to you I crawled.
Desperate for a wish fulfilled,
Desperate for good health instilled.
When the options were at none,
and the hope in me had gone,
I called out for your good grace,
to relieve my shouldered weight.
With a hand of bone you reached,
through my sadness and my grief,
you raised me up, stood me tall,
thank you for this answered call.
Faithful Death, Most Blessed Death,
hear these words upon my breath.
With these prayers I hope you see,
Just what your love means to me.
Broken was my soul before,
heavy was my burden borne,
Close I was to giving in,
when you made me hope again.
Bitter tears which filled my eyes,
by your love, they have been dried.
Even though you owe me naught,
you granted the health I sought.
Holy Death with magick scythe,
which you swing to end all life.
In my time of need I prayed,
for your scythe to swing my way.
Swing my way to grant my wish,
grant my wish for me you did.
Wish I made for me and mine,
wish of healing in good time.
When my spirit was so weak,
magick healing I did seek,
healing sought, and healing found,
thank you Death for love profound.
Saint Death, oh my Holy Death,
by your magick I now rest.
You answered my desperate prayer,
And showed me how much you care.
When I was in time of need,
for your magick I did seek.
In response you sent my way,
the magick for which I prayed.
Thank you for the love you give,
and how you bless those who live.
Thank you for the health returned,
for granting a brand new turn.
Holy Death, with power great,
these simple words cannot convey,
how lucky you've made me feel,
for my magick wish made real.
From beyond the veil you reached,
to grant me what I beseeched.
Miracle of health returned,
blessings on all those concerned.
Take for granted I will not,
this wellness which you have brought.
May these humble words I pray,
show the thanks I feel today.
Holy Death of hooded cloak,
you who heard the words I spoke.
Thank you for ending the pain,
bringing sunshine after rain.
Where once was ill, health is now,
for this favor, I now bow,
bow at your feet made of bone,
bow at your most blessed throne.
May you hear these words so true,
as you love me, I love you.
Love you with all of my heart,
for the magick you impart.
Death with power over all,
through the fog, you heard me call,
call on you for blessed grace,
for a healing in your name.
Prayer of thanks, I speak for you,
for the health you made renewed.
Look into my heart and see,
what this healing meant to me.
In the life that I have left,
this blessing I'll not forget.
In all things that I will do,
I will keep a thought of you.
On this final day of prayer,
may this message be made clear.
Grateful to you Holy Death,
for making me feel so blessed.
When I needed you the most,
you embraced and held me close.
No more do I feel alone,
in your blessed arms of bone.
Thank you for all that you give,
thank you for your many gifts.
Thank you for your power great,
thank you for the health re-made.
